A ref. 140.035 Zeitwerk Lumen ‘Phantom’, the first ever Lumen model from A. Lange & Söhne. Made in just 100 examples, the Phantom came one year after the debut of the Zeitwerk, where it won the Aigulle d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2009. The Lumen was created from the experience of Anthony de Haas, Director of Product, after trying and struggling to read the time on his own Zeitwerk at night. This led to an audacious smoked sapphire dial, which allowed the time discs to fully charge under UV. The Phantom has since become one of the most important and collected watches of the brand’s developing years under Günter Blümlein, perfectly capturing the dichotomy of Lange’s austere yet revolutionary spirits in full measure.
